Buonicontis, Heat celebrate relationship (AP)

There might soon be a day, Nick Buoniconti says, when he won’t need to ask for any more money from organizations like the Miami Heat. Just not yet. The NFL Hall of Fame linebacker and his son, disability activist Marc Buoniconti, presented the Heat organization with an award Friday to recognize more than 20 years of the team’s support of The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis.

Thunder G Harden to miss 2-to-4 weeks (AP)

Oklahoma City Thunder coach Scott Brooks says rookie guard James Harden will miss two to four weeks with a strained right hamstring. Oklahoma City called up Kyle Weaver from the Tulsa 66ers to replace Harden, who has played in 63 games and is averaging 9.9 points and 3.3 rebounds in 23 minutes. Weaver started 19 games last season for the Thunder.

Buoniconti, Heat celebrate relationship (AP)

Celebrating a relationship dating back more than 20 years, disability activist Marc Buoniconti presented the Miami Heat with an award Friday to recognize the team’s ongoing support of The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis. Buoniconti, the son of NFL Hall of Fame linebacker Nick Buoniconti, has been paralyzed from the neck down since making a tackle for The Citadel in 1985.

Cavs’ James returns after 2-game absence (AP)

Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James was in the starting lineup for Friday’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers after missing the previous two with an injured right ankle. James missed two games for the Cavaliers after twisting his ankle last Friday against Detroit. James entered Friday’s game averaging 30 points, 8.5 assists and 7.2 rebounds.

Ailing Hornets F Posey out vs. Nuggets (AP)

Hornets forward James Posey has been scratched from New Orleans’ game against the Denver Nuggets on Friday night. Team spokesman Dennis Rogers says Posey has flulike symptoms. Posey is one of the Hornets’ primary reserves, averaging five points and 4.5 rebounds in 22.7 minutes. He routinely plays in key late-game situations because of his defensive ability.

Heat suspend F Wright 2 games after DUI (AP)

Dorell Wright was suspended for two games by the Miami Heat, one day after he was cited for driving under the influence. Wright will not be with the Heat for home games Friday against Chicago and Sunday against Philadelphia. He was charged early Thursday with DUI and driving with a suspended license after a traffic stop in Miami Beach.

Injured Bulls PG Rose out vs. Heat (AP)

Chicago point guard Derrick Rose has been ruled out of the Bulls’ game Friday night against the Miami Heat with a sprained left wrist. Rose was injured Thursday in the Bulls’ loss at Orlando, after colliding with Magic center Dwight Howard. The Bulls say tests performed Friday confirmed the sprain, but showed no breaks or ligament damage.

Nuggets coach Karl to miss next 3 games (AP)

George Karl will skip the last three games on the Denver Nuggets’ road trip as he adjusts to a feeding tube that was placed into his stomach as part of his cancer treatment. The Nuggets coach has already missed two games since being diagnosed with neck and throat cancer last month. He is undergoing a rigorous six-week treatment program of radiation and chemotherapy.
